Bunker work continues.
Weeds picked and rocks removed.

Sand has been shoveled and raked into place.
The USGA standard sand depth at the base of a bunker is 4-6 inches and 2-3 inches on the face.

Now that the sand has been properly distributed…the new routine raking method can begin.
The “Aussie Way” as I refer to it…is a popular raking style in Australia. A simple innovative way to maintain sand on the bunker face.

A squeegee instead of a rake is used to maintain the faces. It promotes a smooth and firmer surface for golf balls to roll back to the base of the bunker.
A leaf rake is used for the center.

This style will begin tomorrow…in time for the Section V High School Championship.
It will be interesting to hear member and guest feedback throughout the season.
There is still more work to do. Bunker edging will begin next week and I will share more info when that time comes.
Enjoy the weekend!
