Winter has arrived.

Leaf clean-up has finally come to an end. A losing battle throughout the fall but the war has been won.

The focus for the next few months will be Tree Removal. There are a little over 150 trees approved to come down. This list can be accomplished througout the next two seasons.

In the pevious blog I mentioned applying a fungicide to help protect the turf from snow mold. Those applications were made between November 8th-17th due to expected snowfall shortly after applications.

The Front 9 and Back 9 Greens received two different applications this year. The Front 9 had a one-time application of “Enclave” compared to the Back 9s split application (2 sprays) of Instrata. Both the Front and Back 9 Greens were also sprayed with “Proxy” during these applications. This product helps control seedhead growth of Annual Bluegrass. A smoother Green surface is the goal.

Tees/Fairways received a one time application of “Ipro2” and “Tebuconazole”

Always good to try new products and methods. It will be interesting to see if there is better control with one product/method over the other this spring.

A few days later the Rochester area recieved its expected snowfall.

During the winter season, members are allowed to still play golf. To ensure high priority turf has some protection such as the Greens…the hole locations have been removed from them and placed in the approaches/fairways.

Thanks again and enjoy the most wonderful time of the year!
